JOB SUMMARY
The Controller oversees the Finance & Administration department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting and managing Finance team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepares accurate monthly financial statements for Westbrook Greenhouses Limited, including supporting reconciliations and schedules;
• Prepares accurate monthly financial statements for assigned Westbrook Group holding companies and Westbrook Group consolidated/combined financial statements and shareholder statements;
• Prepares budget-to-actual reports and variance analysis, analyzing financial results to explain variances and identify trends;
• Prepares standard recurring reports (sales rolling forecast, availability schedule, sales reports, etc.);
• Develops cost accounting system and standards for materials, labour, overhead, etc.;
• Analyzes production costs and efficiencies, recommending changes as necessary;
• Performs capital life cycle cost-benefit analysis, including replacement capital;
• Prepares forecasts and projections (P&L, cashflow, scenario planning) as required;
• Acts as primary liaison with external auditors to provide information required for year end audit and follow up on required actions;
• Leads the planning and execution of day to day activities of the Finance team;
• Provides coaching and direction to Finance team members, including performance management, discipline, coaching, training and development;
• Leads the annual budget preparation process;
• Oversees year end inventory count;
• Develops and implements internal financial controls, procedures and process improvements;
• Maintains fixed asset ledger, making recommendations for impairment;
• Captures non-financial data to more effectively analyze financial results;
• Performs sales analysis and other ad hoc reporting/analyses as required;
• Takes responsibility for ensuring compliance with financial regulatory requirements;
• Maintains KPI dashboards;
• Leads/contributes to special projects as required;
• Participates in meetings and other activities related to role;
• Works in compliance with company policies and procedures and all relevant government regulations;
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Post secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline;
• Completion of/actively working towards CPA designation;
• 7+ years of hands-on general accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years’ management experience.
