Crop Logistics Coordinator

Westbrook Greenhouses Ltd. has two fully automated greenhouses with almost 1,000,000 square feet of combined greenhouse space.  Westbrook is a large supplier of quality potted plants to the North American wholesale and retail mass market.

The Crop Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the management of all crop movement involved in potted rose production to facilitate all required processes. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform crop movements under the supervision and instructions of the Grower daily; 

Communicate and review regularly (at least twice a day) with the Grower to provide information regarding the crop movement and timing;

Leads a logistics team that is responsible for the daily container movement ensuring all processes and activities are supported. This includes (rose cutting, rose staging transfers, area requirements);

Programming the automated container system;

Operates greenhouse automation machines safely and effectively, troubleshooting issues as required;

Responsible for weekly and month end Live Goods inventory counts and data entry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to work independently as required;

Strong Leadership skills to manage a small team;

Excellent communication skills;

Team attitude and willingness to seek guidance and collaborate to solve problems on a daily basis;

Able to work in a professional and cooperative manner with co-workers and management;

Flexibility to work additional hours as required with occasional work on Saturdays;

General Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) not required but an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to stand 8+ hours per day;

Ability to lift to 50 lbs occasionally;

Ability to push 50-100 lbs frequently;

Working in a cool/ warm, humid indoor environment with moderate noise level and around moving machinery;

Must wear steel toe safety shoes/boots
