Inventory Manager – Westbrook Greenhouses Limited
Westbrook Greenhouses Ltd. has two fully automated greenhouses with almost 1,000,000 square feet of combined greenhouse space. Westbrook is a large supplier of quality potted plants to the North American wholesale and retail mass market.
The Greenhouse Technician will be involved in all aspects of greenhouse production. This position will assist the Growers and Facility Manager with crop care, crop movement and production activities, including some minor maintenance tasks. This position will work under the direction of the Facility Manager and Growers/Head Growers to fulfill these responsibilities as needed.
Position Overview
The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of inventory management for both live goods and hard goods (upgrades, growing supplies, etc.). This individual will work closely with Procurement, Production and Sales to ensure inventory accuracy, reduce waste, maintain stock levels, and support operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Oversee weekly live goods (plant material, WIP, finished goods) counts, ensuring accuracy of inventory levels in ERP system;
- Work collaboratively with Growing and Production teams to capture live goods waste and resolve inventory-related issues;
- Oversee regular cycle counts, audits and reconciliations to ensure hard goods (upgrades, pot covers, sleeves, grower pots, etc.) inventory accuracy;
- Develops and implements cycle count and year end count policies and procedures to real time availability and accuracy of inventory data;
- Lead the year-end inventory counting process, ensuring accuracy and compliance;
- Identify, Investigate and resolve any inventory discrepancies;
- Work collaboratively with Purchasing, Production, Sales, Logistics to resolve issues and manage inventory effectively;
- Implement systems and tools to streamline inventory tracking and reporting;
Team Management
- Manage, coach and direct Inventory team, including hiring, performance management, discipline, training and development;
- Set departmental goals and monitor performance against them to ensure progress;
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure team alignment with department goals;
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends and actionable insights;
- Work collaboratively with Product Development Manager to Identify slow moving/obsolete inventory and develop strategies for reduction to minimize financial impact;
- Establish and monitor inventory KPIs, providing periodic reports;
General Responsibilities
- Lead/contribute to special projects as required;
- Work in compliance with company policies and procedures, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act;
- Participates in meetings related to role;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration or a related field or equivalent work experience;

Minimum 5 years’ experience in Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field, including 2+ years in a supervisory/management capacity.
