Product Development Specialist

Companies. With over 60 years in the growing business, we offer an extensive selection of commercial
greenhouse structures and related products, customized to the unique needs of each grower.
Job Summary
The Product Development Specialist works closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop and launch new products to meet the evolving needs of Westbrook’s customers. This role will manage the development process from concept to production.
Responsabilities
- Conduct market research and gather customer feedback to identify new product opportunities and improvements to existing products;
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and other internal team members to create innovative and functional product designs;
- Manage the product development process from concept to production for new greenhouse structures and related systems;
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, to ensure successful product launches;
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, installation manuals, etc.;
- Facilitate product designs for manufacturability and construction optimization;
- Oversee prototype development, testing, and evaluation to ensure products meet quality and performance standards;
- Coordinate with Production team to ensure seamless transition from design to production;
- Provide technical support and training to Sales to facilitate successful product launches;
- Provide technical support to installers during construction phase of new greenhouse designs;
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve product performance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Development, or a related field;
- 3+ years’ experience in product development, preferably within the agricultural or construction industries;
- Strong understanding of greenhouse structures, materials, and manufacturing processes;
- Familiarity with employing a stage-gate model for product development;
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and trends in the agricultural industry an asset.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliverables on an ongoing basis
- Strong organization skills and time management skills;
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook);
- Intermediate proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), structural analysis software and other design tools.
